Only 2 weeks!
Uuuuh – the last weeks were heavily packed with work – but: only 14 days and then we’ll take the plane to Nova Scotia – great! I really can’t await coming back. The house is almost finished and finally Nova Scotia Power started setting up the poles for the electricity today. So hopefully we will …
Today our container arrived at the house and everything was fine – nothing broken or damage. Customs even didn’t open the container. With the help of Troy and his guys it only was half an hour to unload everything. The house look great with some furniture in 🙂
Back in Gegogan
Today I arrived at the house in Gegogan and I was really suprised! Troy and his team really made great progress. The flooring is nearly finished and most of the trims and baseboard is in place either. It really looks great! Even if it’s still cold in Nova Scotia the gras is growing and I …
Hardwood flooring looks great!
After the gyproc was finished Troy painted the walls – we’ll start with a plain white and see later if we want to bring some colour to the house. Last week he applied the hardwood flooring – the maple looks really great! I can’t await my next visit!
On Friday our container arrived at our place: That was really precision work 😉 And yesterday the kids and my father helped to load all our stuff… Wow – it’s really getting closer to the day we can move into our new house!
… that was a short trip and I was really sad I had to leave – even if the weather wasn’t so good. I made some panorama pictures – they might give a better impression… (click for zoom). Surrounding Living room viewed from the door to the master bedroom Master bedroom Living room viewed from …
Uuuuh it’s cold…
…when I started my trip it was around 20 degree celsius in Germany and so I only packed some shirts – I even had a thought if I should take my winter jacket or only a light jacket… Well – it’s minus 7 here in Nova Scotia and it’s damn cold! There’s even ice on …
Electrical installation and plumbing
Yup – received some new picts from Troy today: Electrical installation and plumbing is nearly finished so we can progress with insulation and the inner walls. Looks like a lot of cables and pipes – I thought we would build just an easy going cottage 😉 Next week the building inspector will review everything and …
Still no snow in Gegogan
Received some new picts from Melvin and Steffen today. He filled the area in front of the house so the ditch is gone finally and we can go by car to the beach 😉 Now we only need some nice weed and bushes, a new barbecue and the summer can come!
Happy new year and a short update
Curious world – while we haven’t any snow in Canada we had a snow blizzard yesterday in Germany – nearly 30 cm snow! But for what it’s worth: With the good weather conditions Troy had some time to work on the siding. It really looks great! Exactly what I’ve tought of. As far as I …
Just a short update: Troy is working on the interior walls – should be finished this week. As soon as I get some new pics I’ll post them. I’ve started working on the details: Making plans for the bathrooms and similar things. I would like to use all that nice stuff from Schlüter-Systems (see: www.schluter.com) …
…a short video from the inside perspective!
Goodbye and see you next year!
Yesterday our windows arrived – very good looking wooden windows from Norwood (…except of the main door and the golden hardware – but we will change that later ;-)). Troy and the guys directly built them in and it’s really the kind of style we’ve been looking for! I’m glad that we’ve choosen wooden windows …
It’s Christmas time…
Back home in Nova Scotia! It’s getting cold but if the sun is showing up it’s really marvelous weather! The house looks really good – very good work! It was a good decision to go for the shed roof and the high rooms – see it in the picts! Yesterday we watched the Sherbrooke Coyotes …
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver spaceships flying
Wow – that looks great. Last week Troy and his team finished the walls and the roof. It was a real good decision to go for the silver metal roof – looks really good! Just 7 more days before I’ll fly to Canda – I’m really excited!!!
Booked my flight for the end of November today and received the next pictures from Troy today. I’m so curious and can’t await to fly over. This is too exciting!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO – it’s a house!
Wow – these guys are incredible fast! We left Canada a week ago and now it seems that the house is nearly finished 😉 And I am really hopping mad that I can’t be over in Nova Scotia to see the house in reality. But thanks god that we have digital cameras and the Internet …

Hey! That looks great – the first walls are erected.
Floor is finished
…but unfortunately we have to fly home. Everybody would love to stay for a couple of weeks and see the building process. I hope Troy will send new photos soon! The main excavation and landscaping is finished too – especially Doris’s brooke project 😉
